Indian man claims not to have eaten for 68 years

AHMEDABAD, India (AFP) - An Indian man who claims divine inspiration says he has survived 68 years without eating, drinking or relieving himself, baffling doctors who are unable to prove him an imposter.

Prahlad Jani, a 76-year-old whose extraordinary tale has won him a small band of devotees, took a dare and underwent round-the-clock surveillance at a hospital in Ahmedabad, the commercial capital of the western state of Gujarat.

Clad in his trademark red sari, bangles and earrings meant to fashion Hindu goddesses, Jani managed to puzzle the Sterling Hospital’s 400 doctors.

Neurologist Sudhir Shah said Jani was under watch for 10 days, with a closed-circuit camera running, and that doctors were convinced he did not break any of his vows, although there was no way of verifying whether Jani has pulled it off for 68 years.

“He has evidence of the formation of urine, which was reabsorbed on his bladder wall. The medical committee does not have any scientific explanation,” Shah said.

Jani offered an explanation. He said he has been blessed and heard his calling when he was eight years old.

“I get the elixir of life from the hole in my palate, which enables me to go without food and water,” Jani explained to AFP.

A vindicated Jani left the hospital Saturday and said he was retreating to a cave at Mount Abu in the neighboring desert state of Rajasthan.

Another doctor, Dinesh Desai, said the hospital hoped to test Jani again to verify his claim of a hole in the palate between his mouth and nose.

“We may get some answers then,” Desai said.

Shah said it took the hospital more than a year to persuade Jani to undergo surveillance.

He said he wanted the ascetic to undergo experiments at NASA, as Jani’s supposed feat could come in handy for astronauts.

Rugby World Cup 2003 is over….now I was wondering how far is Malaysia behind the best in the world?

Looking back to Malaysian Sevens rugby tournament 2001, probably it’s not the best idea to compare 15-a-side Rugby Union with 7-a-side rugby, but at least it’s STILL rugby, and with the biggest names in world rugby participating and courtesy of being hosts, Malaysia participated. Now, here goes the report….

Australia and New Zealand produced a thrilling final in the
Malaysian Sevens rugby tournament of 2001, with the Australians coming back from
7-0 down to narrowly edge the Kiwis 19-17 at the Petaling Jaya Stadium in
Kelana Jaya yesterday. With the win, the Aussies drew level with New
Zealand on 102 points after six legs of the nine-leg IRB World Sevens
Series. New Zealand beat France 26-5 in the quarter-finals and got the
better of South Africa in the semi-finals 19-7. Australia beat Wales 24-14
in the quarter-finals and disposed of another pre-tournament favourite
Fiji 19-7 to set up the final clash.

Meanwhile, Malaysia trooped out with their heads held high even though
they were beaten 5-36 by Canada in the Bowl competition of the Malaysia
Sevens rugby tournament at the Petaling Jaya Stadium yesterday. The
Malaysians played with grit and determination as they did in the Pool A
matches. They also took the lead in their opening match against England
before going down 10-31. There was also no shame in their defeats by New
Zealand (0-61) and Wales (7-37). The Malaysian team will continue their
challenge in the seventh leg of the International Rugby Board’s (IRB)
World Sevens series in Tokyo on April 29 and 30 2001.

I then checked at www.rugby7.com to find out what happened to Malaysia in Tokyo. Well, they were thrashed 0-73 by Australia, who also beat homesters Japan 34-0 and England 26-0. Australia went on to the QF against South Africa (won), and later to the final. In the final, New Zealand took a four-point lead over Australia in the IRB World Sevens Series with two tournaments to play after capturing the Japan Sevens.

A late burst of tries saw the Kiwis come back in the final to win 26-12 at Prince Chichibu Memorial Stadium in Tokyo. Trailing 12-7 with just four minutes to play, the Kiwis dug deep and produced a remarkable turnaround, scoring three late tries to bloat the scoreline.

New Zealand now top the table with 122 points, while Australia have 118 and Fiji 104.

Finally named: English Premier League stars Titus Bramble (Newcastle) and Carlton Cole (Charlton Athletic, formerly Chelsea) are finally named - charged with rape of a 17-year old girl in room 316 of a London hotel in the early hours of the morning of early October/late September 2003. The London schoolgirl alleges that she went to a player’s bedroom at the swanky Grosvenor House hotel at London’s Park Lane to have intercourse with one idol, and ended up gang-raped by his mates. The others could include Bramble’s brother, Jermaine Jenas, Shola Ameobi, Bellamy, Carl Cort + his brother. The 5 rooms were booked under Kieron Dyer’s name but he was later released as he was found not involved (he was out with someone else).

According to http://www.sundaymirror.co.uk:
SOCCER PARTY FIXER: ‘RAPE VICTIM’ SAID YES TO SEX - Oct 5 2003

Exclusive By Dan Evans and Susie Boniface - What Premiership Star Told Club Boss

THE girl at the centre of the sensational soccer gang rape case consented to sex with four men, one of them claimed last night.

Party organiser Nicholas Meikle said the 17-year-old former Catholic schoolgirl willingly participated in the night of debauchery at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel.

England international Kieron Dyer was also named as the Premiership footballer in whose name the hotel rooms were booked.

Meikle confirmed that Dyer, 24, who has an alibi for the night, did not participate in the alleged orgy of Room 316 and knew nothing about it.

He said only four men - not eight as previously reported - were involved in the scandal which has rocked soccer. And he also claimed the girl stayed for breakfast.

Meikle confirmed that as well as himself, those taking part were a Chelsea player, another Premiership star from a different club and a fourth man.

Meikle said: “No one got heavy with her, this was normal.”

But last night the girl’s father strongly denied the orgy claims, describing them as “total rubbish”.

Revealing for the first time the men’s version of events, Meikle, who is well-known in clubland, said the girl had been drinking champagne but was “merry”, not drunk.

He said the gang met the girl at London’s Funky Buddha nightclub at about 1am in the early hours of Saturday morning.

“I can’t remember her name,” said Meikle. “Eventually I tried chatting her up. She had this short black dress and you could see her underwear. I asked what kind it was and she pulled up her dress to show me. It was black with silver lettering that read something like ‘Xmas present’.”

He added: “Not only did Kieron do nothing wrong, he wasn’t there at any stage with the girl. I feel so sorry for him.”

After Funky Buddha, the party moved on to Browns nightclub and Meikle says he started kissing the girl in a mini-cab as they left to go back to the hotel.

Back in his room, Meikle said she put his hands down her trousers, took off her underwear and after he put on a condom they started having sex.

A few minutes later his friend walked in and he says the girl did not seem to mind.

Meikle says the friend then left the room but Meikle linked up with him in the corridor and said: “Try your luck.” Next the Chelsea player entered the bedroom and the other Premiership player, along with Meikle, and there were four men round the girl. Meikle said she did not refuse and did not push anyone off.

In his account, Meikle said the players took it in turns to have sex with the girl in various positions.

After the Premiership player had sex with her, Meikle says the Chelsea player took his turn, followed by their fourth friend.

Meikle said it was not unnatural for people in his circle to have sex with a girl and then make way for his friends, which is known as “roasting”.

Meikle said the sex games continued until about 6.30am with Meikle and his friend cuddling up to the girl until 10.30am when the Chelsea player knocked on the door to ask if they wanted breakfast. They said they were too tired and did not get up until 1pm, when Meikle ordered breakfast.

He said “things turned sour” when the men started a vulgar discussion about the previous night’s events and began throwing the girl’s pants around the room.

She was in the bathroom next door and must have listened in to their lewd conversation, he said.

He added that in retrospect she may have heard part of the conversation and thought it was about her and they were laughing at her. However, she still stayed to have breakfast with them. “I can’t understand how she can cry rape and stay overnight until the afternoon,” said Meikle. The Sunday Mirror can also reveal that an unnamed Premiership star linked to the case has emphatically denied to his club chairman that he had sex with the girl.

The player, who was called to a crisis meeting at his club on Monday afternoon, insisted he had only “popped his head around” the door of the room, seen a group of men with the girl and said “goodnight” because he was tired.

A senior club source said: “He said he had ‘popped his head round’ the door of room 316 to say goodnight and was aware that there was a group of men in the room with a girl.

“He said that he was tired and just wanted to get some sleep and said goodnight. He was adamant that he did not have sex with the girl or even speak to her.”

The events in the early hours of last Saturday morning in the dimly-lit third-floor 400-a-night room are turning into one of the most shocking scandals in soccer history.

Stories and internet rumours have swept the country all week claiming up to eight Premiership players - seven from one high-profile club - are involved in the police probe into claims of a gang rape of the girl.

But today the Sunday Mirror can reveal that only three Premiership players are at the centre of the investigation.

Bosses at the club of the player who insists he did not even speak to the girl are very concerned about the serious nature of the claims made against him.

They are braced for the prospect of him being questioned by police.

If charged and found guilty of a sexual assault, the player would face a career-wrecking jail term and shame his club - and football.

A source close to the club said: “He was adamant that he did not have sex with the girl or even speak to her. But he did admit that he was at the scene of the allegations and would probably have to make his position clear to the police. He totally maintained his innocence.

“The club recognises however that there are serious concerns that one of its players may be involved in the allegations.”

A senior club source said: “The first we knew was early on Monday when a journalist rang to tell us about a story in a national newspaper.

“The chairman immediately drove to the training ground to ask the manager what he knew. They had a meeting at 8.45am before the player arrived. The chairman asked the manager to put the allegation to the player and left around 9.15am. It was an entirely convivial discussion.”

Kieron Dyer told his own club that he had no involvement, as confirmed by Meikle. Dyer insisted he was out clubbing for most of the night in question and had dined at leading London nightspot Sketch with an unnamed woman and soccer agent David Mannasseh.

Dyer was photographed leaving the venue at 2.20am and claimed that after saying goodnight to Mannasseh he went back to the hotel with his female companion, with whom he spent the night.

- A KEY new witness has been identified following a public appeal by police on Friday. “The information they hold could be extremely useful,” said a police spokesman.

Everybody should know this: a footballer who goes out to fashionable bars and clubs at 2.30am is courting trouble!

There is said to be photographs in the hands of those creatures of the night - the celebrity snappers who make a living as cameramen creeping around the fabulously rich.

The best team I have ever seen was the 1970 Brazilians, and Joao Saldanha, the coach who built that side, told me:

‘I had six bandits in that team, and I knew when I told the Press there would be no women in the camp, some of the players slept with prostitutes.’

He paused, laughed, and concluded: ‘I couldn’t stop them … I was their football manager, not their priest!’

In England, it was the Sun, a British mass circulation tabloid, which splashed the story of the Catholic schoolgirl who, at 17 years of age, is said to have met the footballers on a night out. By their account, Miss X was happy to have sex with one star, but when that finished, she felt abused by the gang rape.

Meanwhile, The Mirror reported that a Chelsea player is prepared to tell all to the police investigating the rape.

The 17-year-old victim had admitted that she had consented to sex with the Chelsea player in a Grosvenor House hotel room.

But she told police that seven other players barged into the room when they were having sex. Five of them raped her while two others molested her.

Carlton Cole is black, born 12 Nov 1983 at Surrey, height: 183, Weight: 81, Forward

According to www.4thegame.com:

Sir Bobby Robson paid old club Ipswich Town 4.5million after for England Under-21 defender Titus Bramble in July 2002. It is thought that Bramble’s switch could eventually earn the Suffolk club up to 6million.

The 20-year-old put pen to paper on a five-year deal after spending the two weeks on Tyneside attempting to prove his fitness after undergoing surgery on a heel problem at the end of the 2001/02 season.

The Magpies erred on the side of caution because of the player’s injury, waiting until they were satisfied that the problem had been resolved once and for all before they were prepared to seal the deal.

The 69-year-old manager will hope that the 6ft 2in defender will increase competition for places in a back four which made huge strides last season but remains suspect at times.

Nikos Dabizas and Andy O’Brien were the men in possession for much of the last campaign, although Sylvain Distin, now a Manchester City player, put both under pressure before making the left-back spot his own.

Titus made his debut for Newcastle in August 2002, and went on to have a marvellous first season with the club. he established himself in the first team and made over 20 appearances. He even featured in their Champions League game.

Bramble joined Ipswich as a trainee and made his League debut as a 17-year-old at Sheffield United on December 20, 1998.

He made 62 appearances for his home town club, contributing to their remarkable first campaign back in the Premiership in which they finished fifth and secured a UEFA Cup place.

But he was disappointed to slip in the pecking order last season as injuries struck in what proved to be a disastrous year for George Burley’s side, and now faces the task of proving himself all over again.

———————————————–

Carlton Cole is a talented young English striker who made his Chelsea debut in April 2002 in their 3-0 home win against Everton. His first start came later in the month at Middlesbrough, and he marked the occasion with a goal.

In 2002/03, he started the campaign on fire, scoring three goals in his first three games and making the most of Chelsea’s injury-plagued strikeforce. However, he was then shipped out on loan to Wolverhampton Wanderers, where he continued to impressed, though only scoring one goal.

He scored on his return to Chelsea in their 4-0 FA Cup win over Shrewsbury, and made a hero of himself in April 2003 when he scored the winning goal in consecutive games against Sunderland and Bolton. He clearly has a big future ahead of him.

Unfortunately, the arrival of Roman Abramovich changed Chelsea completely, and like many others on the fringe of the first team, Cole suddenly found himself further down the queue behind the new boys. In August 2003, he moved to Charlton Athletic on loan for the season, and will hope to get regular football with the Addicks.

Why is Engineering Division task the hardest?

most of the other problems stem from hardware, software and network problems
there are a lot of possibilities and variety of them,
It’s impossible for one person to know everything
sometimes the problems are “off the book”, eg. Unknown or unannounced by the vendor itself; a problem stemming from unstable hardware, or not 100% compatible firmware, or not certified compatible by Microsoft - which means equipment on the higher side of the scale of price

Most of the other problems are not tracable from application system bugs, if they are the possibilities are rather limited
